Delta State Governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, has assured Deltans that the 1500 teachers to be recruited would not have political attachment, rather it would be base on eligibility of those who emerged from the Computer Base Test (CBT), to be organized by the state government.
“It is not going to be political, it will be strictly base on those who are able to emerge in the Computer Base Test that we are going to organize to determine those who are eligible”.
The approval was given on Tuesday February 8, 2022 during the State Executive Council meeting held in Asaba, the state capital.
The State Commissioner for Information, Mr. Charles Ehiedu Aniagwu, who addressed reporters disclosed that the exercise would be subject defined.
Aniagwu said the recruitment became necessary to fill in vacancies created as a result of retirement, death and establishment of new schools across the state.
He said that the recruitment would not be political but strictly based on candidates passing Computer Based Test (CBT) in relevant subject areas.
Hear him: “We approve the recruitment of 1, 500 teachers. It is part of our efforts to raise up the manpower in our secondary schools.
“We discovered that because of retirement, death and of course the establishment of new schools, it has called for the recruitment of more manpower for our secondary schools.
“And this recruitment is going to be based on the Computer Base Test (CBT) and it is also going to be subject defined. It is not just going to be a general Computer Base Test in which case if you are a teacher or educated in subject like Chemistry, we are not going to ask you to begin to answer questions in arts or in Agriculture.
“We will make sure that whatever you are going to be examined in the subject that you are also going to be teaching the students so that at the end of the day we should be able to raise the cut off and then the marks will be suited to what you are coming to teach the students.
“It is not going to be political, it will be strictly base on those who are able to emerge in the Computer Base Test that we are going to organize to determine those who are eligible”, Aniagwu added.
