INDECENT DRESSING: Delta Poly Shut School Gate Against Students

Female students of Ogwashi-Uku Polytechnic in Aniocha south local government area of Delta State, has barred female students without pants and brassiere from gaining access into the school.

A viral video on Facebook shows female students who were stranded at the Polytechnic gate.

A voice in the video said: “if you are not wearing pant you will not enter, if you are not wearing bra you will not enter.

“This school don turn to secondary school. DSPG don disgrace us”, the voice said.

Investigation revealed that some of the indecent wears the school kicks against for female students include Sleeveless tops, body hugs, short Knickers, diaphanous negligees, spaghetti tops, off shoulders.

Others are wicket straps, mono straps, mini skirts, dress and skirt with slit above the knees, biker shorts, unclosed ripped jeans and all clothes that reveal sensitive parts of the body such as the burst, chest, belly, upper arms and buttocks

While the male students are not allowed to wear Shirts or any wear revealing the armpit, Short Knickers above the knee when not required and Unclosed Ripped jeans.

Contacted on the the viral video in a telephone conversation, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the institution, Manfred Oyibogbeye, said: “Well, we will take our time to look at that video because this era of uncontrolled online publications a lot of things that you don’t even know comes up because somebody out there just pick it and out it online.

“But one thing is clear, my Polytechnic, seriously frown at indecent dressing. In fact, if you enter from the gate, you will see postals and all that criticizing and condemning indecent dressing.

“And so, as we speak, we are on campaign, enlightenment of our students even staff against indecent dressing. A few days ago the Registrar addressed staff and one of the various things he criticized is indecent dressing, that staff and students have no business dressing indecently.

“The Polytechnic, is a public place. So, we are against indecent dressing”, reiterating that the school is at the level of sensitizing the students against indecent dressing.

The institution’s image maker, said after this time, the school will come out with measures to stop any act of indecent dressing, saying “it doesn’t befits our status at all as an institution of higher learning. Right now we are on campaigns and sensitizing first before we come out with measures to checkmate it”, he stressed.
