Mr. Ukah, who gave the hint in Asaba on Monday 15th March 2921, while inspecting the 100 percent already completed school project, said that the facility, which would be commissioned by the State Governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, on Friday, March 19th, was aimed at creating access to foundational education to children in the state capital.
The Basic and Secondary Education Commissioner stated that the Okowa’s administration was irrevocably committed to providing quality, affordable and accessible education in the state, adding that the contractor had delivered the job in accordance with the specifications.
He reminded teachers in the state of the urgent need to always reciprocate the state government’s gesture in the area of improving the condition of facilities in schools including commitments to their welfare by ensuring that they deliver effectively in the teaching and learning activities.
Similarly, Mr. Ukah visited the Government Model Secondary School, GRA, Asaba, to ascertain the level of academic activities in the school.
Speaking, Mr. Ukah, who urged the principal and teachers in the school to collaborate with the Parents Teachers Association (PTA) to evolve ways of contributing their quota towards sustaining the pride of the school.
The Education Commissioner stressed on the need for consistent counselling for the children to embrace positive lifestyle, inculcate reading culture and shun negative vices at all times.
He renewed the call for the protection of school facilities, adding that any child who destroyed chair assigned to him or her, the parents should be responsible for the replacement.
