Delta Commissioner Lauds Governor For Prioritizing Educational Growth, Development Of Children

Delta State Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Mr. Patrick Ukah, has commended the state Governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, for providing an enabling environment for the educational growth and development of children in the state.

Mr. Ukah, who made the commendation in Asaba, while receiving a set of books for primary school pupils, titled: ‘Global Goals for Sustainable Development’, donated to his ministry to distribute to schools by the office of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), said that the ministry under his watch would continue to prioritize the educational needs of the children and embrace contributions from stakeholders for their overall growth.

While assuring that the books would be judiciously distributed to the pupils in primaries four, five and six, whom it is meant for, Mr. Ukah noted that the books would certainly enrich the academic and mental well-being of the children.

The Basic and Secondary Education Commissioner emphasized the need for all stakeholders to always collaborate with his ministry towards enhancing the educational development of the children in the state.

Earlier, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on SDG, Dr. Andy Ilabor, lauded Governor Okowa and Mr. Ukah for their contributions in moving the education sector forward.

The SDGs boss urged the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education to ensure that the books were distributed to the pupils of the recommended classes especially in public primary schools, adding that those in private schools should also be accommodated in order to realise it’s objective effectively.

Present during the ceremony was the Special Adviser to the Governor on SERVICOM and Labour Relations, Comrade Mike Okeme.
