Barely a week when northern traders blocked foodstuffs from coming to the southern part of Nigeria, traders have lost over N10 billion.

It was gathered that members of the Amalgamated Union of Foodstuff and Cattle Dealers of Nigeria across the Northern part of the country have started diverting their goods and all consumables to the neigbouring countries of Niger Republic and Cameroon

They have also begun blocking trade routes to the South by stopping food item-laden trucks from going to the south.

According to reports, the traders have lost over N10 billion in just one week and pleaded with the group to allow them bring their foodstuff to the Southern part of the country.

Most of the perishable foodstuff have spoiled due to food sufficiency in the neighbouring countries as they won’t buy most of the foodstuff till they are either abandoned or given our for free.

They called for the stop of the blockage as some of them noted that there is no difference between an Igbo man, Hausa, Yoruba and Fulani, calling for unity.
