The former number one council Chairman, disclosed that amidst huge debt profile inherited, his administration found it prudent not to compound the already choking financial problem of the council by doing the best it could in the face of the dwindling revenue.
Oseme made the disclosure Wednesday 6th January 2021, in his address during his thanksgiving service/stewardship account to mark the end of his tenure held at the Council’s Secretariat, Issele-Uku.
He pointed out that the task was quite challenging and extremely difficult considering the all time low revenue allocation profile from the Federation Account.
Hear him: “The resultant negative balance after statutory deduction at the level of the State/Local Government Joint Account and Allocation Committee which over the time placed Aniocha north in comparative disadvantaged position and made result almost unachievable”.
He expressed concern over the serial deficit in statutory allocation, very low internally generated revenue profile of the Council coupled with the initial politically induced legislative/Executive frictions particularly in relation to aspirations of the administratiin.
According to him, it is heartwarming to note that my government was fully aware of the problem and the effort required, hence, we were concerned that our temporary difficulties should not lead us in the direction of retarding progress and development but that the difficulties be overcome where necessary by reconsideration and review of methods.
Earlier in his sermon, Revd. Ephraim Chima, noted that powers are ordained or instituted by God, saying that evil men would make evil laws.
“The problem we have in Nigeria is that we have evil men. For God to control your life, God need to possess you.
“Except Jesus sets you free, you cannot be free. If we must have a peaceful society, we must have a peaceful home”.
