Construction has officially commenced on the 10.8-kilometer Aboh-Akarai concrete road project, including a 100-meter bridge across the Okiri River in Ndokwa East Local Government Area of Delta State.
The Member Representing Ndokwa East Constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. Prince Emeka Osamuta, confirmed the development during a recent visit to the project site.
He disclosed that the preliminary soil testing for the bridge has been completed, paving the way for full-scale construction activities.
According to Hon. Osamuta, clearing and bulldozing works are currently underway, with the road already opened from Aboh, headquarters of Ndokwa East, to Akaria.
He also revealed that a dredger has been deployed to the Aboh River for sand dredging, while other essential equipment has been positioned at the Akaria axis of the project site.
“In the coming days, construction activity will extend to the Akaria-Etiti end of the road,” the lawmaker noted, describing the project as a long-awaited milestone and a “monumental breakthrough” for the people of Ndokwa East.
Expressing deep appreciation to Delta State Governor Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, Hon. Osamuta said, “A few weeks ago, the Governor and the State Executive Council approved the construction of this vital road and bridge project. Today, I’m excited to announce that actual work has begun. The soil test for the bridge is done, and site preparation is progressing steadily.”
He also commended the Deputy Governor, Sir Monday Onyeme, for his unwavering commitment to the development of Ndokwa land.
“This is the first time Ndokwa is producing a Deputy Governor, and he has been truly responsive to the yearnings of our people. I thank him and pray for continued blessings upon his life and family,” Osamuta said.
The lawmaker, who chairs the House Committee on Warri, Uvwie, and Environs Area Development Agency, also extended gratitude to the Speaker of the State Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, and his constituents for their support and trust in his leadership.
Reaffirming his commitment to effective representation and infrastructural development, Hon. Osamuta urged the people of Ndokwa East to continue supporting the state government and its policies.
Upon completion, the Aboh–Akarai road and bridge are expected to significantly improve transportation and connectivity in the region, stimulate economic activities, and enhance the overall quality of life for residents.
