A Senior Secondary School Student (SS3), Godwin Precious, has met his destiny helper, as the governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), His Excellency, Olorogun Barr. Kenneth Gbagi OON, offered him free education to the university level.

Precious, ran into luck on Thursday January 12th 2023, after reciting the National Anthem in Ijaw language when the gubernatorial campaign trail of SDP, stormed Patani, the headquarter of Patani local government area of Delta State.

The challenge was thrown to the mammoth crowd by the Ughelli South LGA Chairman, Pastor Amos Osiki and a bounty of the new N1, 000 note was placed for anyone who could recite the national anthem.

The God-favoured Precious, took up the challenge and recited the national anthem in five seconds in the Ijaw dialect.

The brilliant act of Precious, moved Olorogun Gbagi, a renowned philanthropist, to announce a free scholarship scheme for him to the university.

The SDP gubernatorial candidate, is the founder of Kenneth Gbagi Foundation, a project with which he has touched lives across the globe to diffuse fears, anxieties, and trauma of vulnerable street children and displace people to ensure their integration into the society.

Speaking at the momentous rally, Gbagi, a great patriot of the Nigerian Project, called on parents to mentor their children especially with the mother-tongue, not to allow the Nigerian languages to go into extinction.

Hear him: “as a former minister of education in Nigeria, I like what I saw. This young man could sing the national anthem in his language.

“A lot of young men in Nigeria, no longer understand the language but this young man was able to sing the national anthem in Ijaw language, SDP will give him scholarship to the university.

“Today, we will give him N100, 000 to register for his WAEC”.

The announcement of the scholarship and the N100, 000 enrollment fee, threw the jubilant crowd into uproar as his father, Mr. John, the mother, Mrs. John, the sister and well wishers ran to the young man, congratulating him for the feat.

Speaking in an interview, the elated Precious, described Gbagi as a “messenger from God” who came to wipe away his tears.

“I am so happy and I thank God for everything, he is a messenger from God and I wish him good luck, success and prosperity”.

Precious sized the medium to call on children to always learn their mother tongue as they would need it at the right time.

“All students should know their tribes and always learn how to speak it”.

Also, the emotion laden father, said: “Today, is a very miraculous day for me. I really thank God and I wish him the best of luck to win the governorship election.

“I know with him good dividends of democracy will come to Delta State and he will do greater things in the State. I believe with this man, we are safe.

“We should collectively join hands together and collect our PVCs so that we can use it to vote for him”, he said.
