…Says rumoured defection plans by Gov Oborevwori laughable, handiwork of professional rumour mongers
The Warri Refinery and Petrochemical Company’s launch of operations at nearly 80% production capacity marks a major milestone in the ongoing revitalization of federal and state industries in Nigeria, particularly in Delta State.
Dr. Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, Director General of the Delta State Bureau for Orientation and Communications, highlighted this achievement during a television program on Sunday.
He noted that the refinery’s production of diesel, kerosene, and petrol would play a crucial role in wealth creation and generate thousands of job opportunities for both skilled and unskilled workers across various sectors.
He noted that the dogged and resilient infrastructural development and socioeconomic remodelling efforts of the state governor, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, is yielding monumental results through political bridge building and strategic partnership with the federal government on economic development and wealth creation for the good people of Delta State, and Nigerians in general.
The Bureau Chief described the rumoured foreseeable defection plan of governor Oborevwori as laughable, unthinkable, mischievous and the handiwork of professional rumour mongers, assuring that the governor shall continue to work round the clock, and make friends across board to enhance sustainable growth in all sectors of the state economy.
He assured Deltans that the smooth implementation of the MORE Agenda would continue to attract inflow of local and foreign investments to the state, as well as robust partnership with President Tinubu and the federal government, in line with the strategic economic growth policies and programmes encapsulated in governor Oborevwori’s MORE agenda, currently under full scale implementation across the three senatorial districts.
Dr Oghenesivbe advised those advocating for payment of certain monthly stipends to youths and unemployed young graduates by the management of Warri Refinery, to have a rethink and stop such unprogressive antics, noting that there is no country in the world where refineries pay unemployed young graduates and secondary school leavers monthly stipends, but instead provide jobs through multifaceted vacant positions.
He assured that the resumption of incremental production of petrol, diesel and kerosene at the Warri refinery would certainly create jobs and wealth for eligible and qualified young school leavers and graduates, urging Deltan youths to rejoice and support governor Oborevwori, because of the substantial economic boom that has been witnessed in the state since May 29, 2023, and counting.
“The commencement of near 80% production capacity at the Warri Refinery is a welcome development, and the good people of Delta State are very happy with the efforts of the state governor, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori and the federal government under the leadership of President Bola Tinubu.
“The production of diesel, kerosene and petrol at the Warri Refinery would significantly boost wealth and job creation in the state, as more people shall be employed, both skilled and unskilled workers. This is good for the advancement of Delta State economy.
“Governor Oborevwori is not going to rest on his oars. His political bridge building and strategic partnership with the federal government is yielding monumental results for the state and people.
“Good politics connotes states and federal government working together to bring about economic growth, development and prosperity for Nigerians across subnationals and political entities. It’s certainly not a sign of partisan political affiliation or defection plan as some narrow minded naysayers may think. It’s about matured engagements and political maturity.
“President Tinubu is the president for Nigeria, irrespective of political affiliations, which is why governor Oborevwori shall continue to partner with Mr President and the federal government to bring about sustainable development as encapsulated in his MORE Agenda.
“Meaningful development can only be achieved through multifaceted collaborative efforts and that’s exactly what the governor of Delta State, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori is doing, and Deltans are very happy with his visionary and result oriented leadership.
“There are some uninformed persons who are advocating for the payment of monthly stipends to youths and unemployed young graduates in Delta State by the management of Warri Refinery and Petrochemical Company. This is distasteful and not in our character as Deltans. It is anti development.
“There is no where in the world where refineries pay youths and unemployed young graduates monthly stipends. It is not done in Port Harcourt, not in Rivers State, and should never happen in Delta State. We want development and nobody should scare away investors from the state. It’s our duty as citizens to encourage government positive efforts.
“Warri Refinery will provide jobs and create wealth for our teeming youths, women and unemployed young graduates. That is the practice anywhere in the world. It is unacceptable for anybody to discourage or want to truncate investment inflow in the state through unholy demand that is alien to economic development.
“I urge our youths to continue to support governor Oborevwori as he continues to doggedly and proactively intensify efforts towards advancing Delta beyond 2027. We must as a people appreciate his selfless service. It’s unprecedented.
“Delta is in good standing in all sectors of the state economy, and we have good stories to tell. Our youths are vibrant and supportive, and the governor is proud of them always.
“Governor Oborevwori shall continue to partner with the federal government, local and foreign investors to revive all moribund industries in the state to provide jobs and create wealth for our teeming youths and women, skilled and unskilled workers,” Oghenesivbe assured.
