The member representing Udu Constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. (Chief) Peter Okagbare Uviejitobor (JP) has expressed deep concerns on the plight of Internally Displaced Persons who were affected by the ravaging floods in Udu Communities, Udu local government area of Delta State.
Uviejitobor who was on-the-spot assessment at the affected communities, lamented on the level of houses, farmlands and properties worth million of naira destroyed to ravaging the flood
The Lawmaker who took canoe to access some of the affected communities, said that the visit was to enable him know impact of the floods on his Constituents and how to mitigate their sufferings by concerned stakeholders.
Chairman, House Committee on Water Resources Development who was at one of the communities based assisted camps for the Internally Displaced Persons at Emadadja, Uviejitobor called on donor agencies of government, public-spirited individuals and organizations to assist Udu Communities victims affected by flood.
While calling on affected communities to remain calm as government is still identifying damages cost by the flood, Uviejitobor assured them the state government will still get to them.
“I am here to enable me know the impact of the flood on my people and how to mitigate their sufferings by all concerned stakeholders”.
He lauded governor, Senator (Dr.) Ifeanyi Okowa’s handling of the situation so far in the state and urged relief material Committee to come to the aid of Udu communities.
The communities affected include; Emadadja, Ekrota, Ukperheren, Ubogo, Ogbe-Udu, Ukpiovwin, Oghior, Okolor Waterside, Obubu, Ugbisi and Otor-Udu.
