The Urhobo Editors and Publishers Alliance (UEPA) is set to host its Official Inauguration and Annual Conference Lecture 2025, an event anticipated to be one of the year’s most intellectually enriching and culturally significant gatherings.
Scheduled for November 21, 2025, at the Wetland Hotel, Ughelli, beginning at 12 noon, the event will convene distinguished leaders, scholars, journalists, and cultural advocates dedicated to preserving and promoting Urhobo heritage amid the rapidly evolving global landscape.
Delivering the keynote address is the distinguished scholar and public intellectual, Dr. Obire Odiakpo, who will speak on the compelling theme:
“The Media as Custodian: Revitalizing Urhobo’s Traditional Institutions in the Digital Age.”
Dr. Odiakpo’s lecture will examine how media, storytelling, and digital innovation can serve as transformative instruments for cultural preservation, identity renewal, and social progress within the Urhobo nation and beyond.
Adding prestige to the occasion, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Elder Sheriff Oborevwori, Executive Governor of Delta State, will grace the ceremony as Special Guest of Honour, underscoring the state government’s recognition of culture as a cornerstone for community growth, leadership, and unity.
The Chief Host, Chief (Hon.) Olorogun Jaro Egbo, Chairman, Ughelli North Local Government Council, will also play a pivotal role in the proceedings.
