Facts have emerged over the indefinite suspension slammed on six councilors in the Legislative Arm of Isoko South Council area in Delta State.
The councilors were suspended for working against the ruling Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) in the just concluded March 18th general election particularly the Houses of Assembly election, The Story can authoritatively report.
Our checks revealed that two of the embattled councilors worked for the candidates of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) after they were allegedly gifted with Corolla cars by an aggrieved PDP member, known as DAMOTECH in the area.
Others, it was gathered worked for other political parties order than the PDP in a bid to fulfill agreement purportedly reached between them and their paymasters.
Our investigation revealed that the councilor representing Irri ward 11,
Hon Humphrey Odi, was gifted a Corolla Car.
Further checks disclosed that their sins include alleged insubordination, gross misconduct, unguided statement, running parallel party structure and encouraging factionalism in the party prior to the elections.
It was learnt that, consequently, the suspension placed on theme, they had been barred from participating in all party activities.
An impeccable source who pleaded anonymity said: “The one they call Humphrey, has a Corolla Car. DAMOTECH, bought Corolla cars for these two councilors.
“DAMOTECH, his candidate was from SDP and majority of those councilors that were suspended worked for DAMOTECH. He gave them cars before the election, sometime ago”, our source alleged.
It would be recall that the six council were suspended indefinitely on March 24th 2023 in an emergency sitting held at the Legislative Chamber presided over by the leader Rt Hon Arovah Othuke.
The affected lawmakers are Hon up Wesley Erowo Igbudu, representing Oleh ward 1 and Deputy Majority Leader, Hon Ekere Afikioghene, Oleh ward 1 and Hon Silver Onuje Ewese Igbide ward 06.
Others includes Hon Precious Ejeke, Oleh ward 2, Hon Samson Ovunuwerodi, /Enwhe ward and Hon Humphrey Odi , Irri ward 11.
The councilors were all purportedly involved in official breach of oath of office, gross misconduct and working against the interest of the government of Isoko south.
Their suspension is with immediate effect without salary and any form of benefits.
