The United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women) has reiterated its unwavering commitment to supporting the Association of Women Living with HIV in Nigeria (ASWHAN) in their quest for improved healthcare, social protection, and inclusion in governance processes.

This affirmation was made by Mrs. Patience Ekeoba, Acting Deputy Country Representative of UN Women Nigeria, during a two-day advocacy training programme for ASWHAN members, held on Thursday in Asaba.

Ekeoba emphasized the need for increased domestic financing from government institutions, the private sector, philanthropic foundations, and civil society to support women living with HIV, noting that stigma, discrimination, and limited access to essential services continue to hinder their well-being.

“UN Women is committed to supporting ASWHAN in amplifying the voices of women living with HIV and ensuring they participate meaningfully in decision-making processes
