In a glowing tribute to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, the Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, has commended the Delta State leader for his unwavering commitment to the development of his people, describing him as a man of “character, content, and conduct” whose leadership is deeply rooted in progress and unity.
Speaking on Monday March 24, 2025, at the official flag off of the construction of the access road to the Second Niger Bridge, linking Delta and Anambra States, the Minister did not hold back in showering praises on Governor Oborevwori, hailing his administration’s bold infrastructural strides and intervention in federal projects.
According to Umahi, Delta State is fast becoming a “construction site,” with major developments such as the three flyovers in Warri setting new standards in governance.
“You are not like some leaders who shy away from responsibility by claiming a project is federal,” Umahi remarked.
“The oath of office is for the welfare of your people, and you have lived up to that.
The quality, the length, the aesthetics, and the progressiveness of these projects speak volumes. Congratulations, Governor!”
The Minister also emphasized the unity within the Delta political landscape, stating that the governor has built a “united family and front,” a testament to his leadership style.
He commended members of the Delta State House of Assembly, the State Ministry of Works, and other stakeholders for their commitment to the governor’s vision.
In a landmark announcement, Umahi confirmed the approval of the remaining nine kilometers of road leading to the Second Niger Bridge, a request made by Governor Oborevwori.
“That request has been granted. I had to approve it immediately because you are representing Mr. President, and when the President’s representative makes a request, it must be honored, especially when it is for the people’s welfare,” he affirmed.
The Minister further reassured Deltans that the security of the Second Niger Bridge would be reinforced.
“The days of vandalization are over,” he declared. “We are installing CCTV cameras, and we will link the live feeds to your office and that of the Anambra State Governor.
“The bridge’s lighting system has already been switched to solar, ensuring 24-hour illumination.”
With these developments, Governor Oborevwori’s leadership continues to receive national recognition, positioning Delta State as a model for infrastructural growth and responsible governance.
As Senator Umahi aptly put it, “Everything you touch sparks off with success, just like Mr. President. You are truly a man of the people.”
