The Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Chief Patrick Ukah, has pledged to work in synergy with the Secretaries of the Local Government Areas for effective service delivery in the state.

Chief Ukah made the pledge when members of the State Local Government Secretaries visited him in his office in Asaba.

He said the three tiers of government in existence, comprising the federal, the state and the local government, could only partner and collaborate on agreed areas as they stand on their own and would continue to relate because they belonged to one nation.

The SSG stated that it was the duty of the secretaries of the local government areas to ensure effective functioning of their various offices including the committees set-up by council chairman for the government to achieve set goals.

On the issue of workshop for capacity building, Chief Ukah pledged to look at it with the Special Adviser on Local government and ALGON Chairman, Hon. Victor Ebonka, as there was need for training to enable them discharge their duties effectively.

He prayed God to give them the wisdom to be more focused and be motivating factors in their local government areas.

Earlier, the Chairman, Delta State Local Government Secretaries Forum, Mr. Augustine Ogochukwu Okom, said the visit was to familiarize themselves with the SSG and intimate him of their challenges which he listed to include facilitating seminar for capacity building, political inclusion in the state and familiarization visit to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa.
