… say it’s a failed political stunt
A prominent political figure in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State, Prince Elvis Oharisi, has declared that the people of the area have overwhelmingly rejected the former Deputy Senate President, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, following a flopped One Million-Man March organized in his name.
The march, which took place on Saturday and was touted as a massive show of support for Omo-Agege’s political ambitions, reportedly turned into a fiasco, attracting barely 80 participants, most of whom were allegedly imported from outside the LGA.
In a strongly-worded statement issued on Sunday, Oharisi described the march as a “shameful charade” and a desperate attempt by Omo-Agege to revive what he called the senator’s “dwindling political relevance.”
“This event is not about us or the issues that matter to the people. It was simply a means for Omo-Agege to promote his selfish political agenda,” Oharisi stated.
He further alleged that key stakeholders and youths of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ughelli North boycotted the march in protest, expressing deep frustration with Omo-Agege’s brand of politics, which he described as self-serving and out of touch with grassroots realities.
“Our people have spoken with their actions. The event was a total failure. The so-called One Million-Man March was nothing but a stage-managed embarrassment. It lacked purpose, sincerity, and connection to the needs of the people,” he added.
Oharisi emphasized that the boycott reflects a growing disillusionment among Ughelli youths, who are demanding a new political direction anchored on people-focused leadership, not ego-driven campaigns.
“The youth are tired of empty shows. What they seek is genuine leadership, not grand events that offer no substance,” he said.
He concluded by warning that politicians who continue to undermine the will of the people do so at their own peril, stressing that the rejection of Omo-Agege’s march was a loud and clear message: Ughelli North is no longer a playground for political exploitation
