The core fulcrum in any government transition from one outgoing to one incoming is “continuity”, a state of advancing the existing benefits to the citizens of a state or a country, especially where the outgoing leader has prepared the platform for development initiatives, programmes or projects which have a positive impact on the people he governed during his tenure.

In all facets of transformation, and in the elementary sense of the word, the Uduaghan time in governing the oil-rich Delta State is worthy of mention as an interregnum that visibly presented an all round evidence of citizen development predicated on attaining and delivering verifiable benefits of the dividends of democracy to the people of the state; all of his eight years in Government House Asaba.

The Delta State transportation sector, though now an history in the hands of the present administration, received a massive facelift under the Uduaghan’s administration. The moribund Delta Line was at it kneels at a time the citizens was facing transportation challenges across the state such that movement from one local government to another within the state was very combersome.

The Uduaghan’s administration begin the procurement and distribution of hundreds of City Taxis to ease the transportation challenges across the state but this efforts didn’t impact more on the masses as we see beneficiaries of these cars turning them to private usage.

Governor Uduaghan didn’t give up, rather, he went further to provide more of these City Taxis to Delta Line, thereby increasing the efficiency of the State own transport service.

In furtherance of his determination not only to ease Delta Line of the increasing transportation challenges but to also make transportation easy, accessible and affordable to all Deltans, Governor Uduaghan involved the private sector through Agofure to manage hundreds of fleets of buses acquired for the ease of transportation within the state.

Transportation from one City to another (Warri to Abraka, Warri to Sapele, Warri to Ughelli etc was on flat rate of 200 naira and these buses are fully air-conditioned that passengers commute in comfort. The huddle of sitting in a car in the park waiting for passengers was eliminated by the provision of reception, viewing center, clean toilets and minimart at all parks.

Transportation within the City wasn’t also left out as the Uduaghan administration provide newly luxurious buses with functional air-conditioning system for the comfort of passengers escaping the crushing of the sun.

The Uduaghan administration didn’t leave the Marine transportation sector unattended to as he provide hundreds of outboard engines and fibres to ease the means of transportation in that area.

The aviation sector wasn’t left out as the governor took it by the horn to built and commissioned the Asaba international airport which is today connecting most part of the south east and south south.

The former governor also procure thousands of keke which was disbursed in barges across the 25 local government in the state. This is to further ease the means of street transportation and makes movement in remote areas less difficult.

The legacy of the Uduaghan achievement in the transportation sector will ever be remembered by all Deltans.
