Trouble started on Tuesday June 8th 2021, when one of the fire service staff who climbed a ladder to the second floor of the Federal Secretariat, housing the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), offices, which was engulfed by inferno in the wee hours of Tuesday 8th June.
A staff of the federal government agency, name withheld, disclosed that no life was lost, revealing that two of their officers sustained injuries with one in critical condition after falling from the second floor while trying to put out the fire.
The officer noted that the wounded staff were quickly rushed to the federal tertiary health facility for medical attention, expressing sadness.
The source hinted that the State Fire Service whom they beckoned on, stopped the fire from further spreading to other parts of the building.
The staff further noted that the NYSC session of the federal Secretariat was the only affected part, blaming it on electrical fault.
Meanwhile, there was pandemonium among workers who had resumed earlier than the fire occurred as they scampered for safety.
At the burnt session of the Secretariat, the NYSC State Coordinator and some of the workers were seen trying to pick the debris of documents and other properties left.
Mrs. Olutayo Samuel, the NYSC State Coordinator, said they lost everything in their session, “What happened this early morning is very unfortunate. I got a call that our office was on fire and I quickly rushed there, I don’t know how fire got into the office. Nobody can ascertain what exactly the cause of the fire.
She disclosed that virtually, everything there got burnt.and damaged, reiterating that all the files were bunt to ashes just as she disclosed that there are back-up due to the era of technology.
She said that they took some of the office system to the camp, assuring that there would be no set back as they have them in the system.
Corroborating the fire service personnel, Mrs. Samuel, hinted that no life was lost, assuring that documents lost to the inferno would be replaced.
