Fashion Design and Tailoring graduands of the Skills Training Entrepreneurship Programme (STEP), under the Delta State government Wealth Creation Bureau, have been charged to hit the ground running as soon as the yuletide season is over.
The charge was given in Asaba, on Wednesday December 22nd 2021, by the STEP Co-ordinator, Mr. Onyeisi Nkenchor, while addressing the first 80 set of the 246 STEP graduands in the 2020/2021, cycle who were given starter packs.
According to him, they successfully completed all phases in the programme from the orientation and personal Effectiveness Training, vocational training in various training centers, Entrepreneurship and Business Management Training (EBMT) and post training Proficiency Test (PTPT).
Hear him: “immediately after the festive period, I will encourage you to start up your business”, pointing out that whatever they don’t understand particularly the business plan aspect of the training, “Our doors are widely open to receive you, hear from you whatever challenge you are passing through”.
He encouraged them to be committed in what they are doing, warning that it is not time for play, “His Excellency, has equipped you to make something out of your life, please don’t disappoint him”, Nkenchor, begged.
“The job and wealth creation programme was created to curb youth unemployment by training STEP beneficiaries to become entrepreneurs, managers and business people who will drive the economic diversification vision of the Governor Okowa-led administration in the state and in no distant time, you will be employers of labour.
“So far, the State Government has trained over 6,000 people in its vocational skills and agricultural enterprises with over 4,500 of them in STEP and the beneficiaries are doing very”.
Two beneficiaries, Mr. Hilary Ezedi Jnr and Miss German Prayer, applauded the state government and staff of the Job Creation Bureau, for their commitment towards them.
