Senator Ned Munir Nwoko has officially announced the commencement of admissions for the 2025/2026 academic session at the Sports University of Nigeria, Idumuje-Ugboko, Delta State, describing the groundbreaking institution as “a national vision made manifest.”

In a statement released via his official Facebook page, Senator Nwoko, who also serves as Chancellor of the university, expressed deep pride in the university’s steady progress, attributing its development to years of strategic planning, policy advocacy, and a resolute commitment to youth empowerment through the fusion of education and sports.

“This university is more than an academic institution,” Senator Nwoko remarked.

“It is the culmination of unwavering efforts to empower Nigeria’s youth through the synergy of education and athletic development.”

As the first specialized sports university in Nigeria, the institution offers a wide range of academic and athletic programmes.

Its curriculum spans competitive sports disciplines such as football, taekwondo, swimming, and golf, along with fields in Mass Communication, Management, Social and Allied Health Sciences, General Sciences, and Architecture.

Admissions will be conducted through Diploma, Certificate, and Direct Entry pathways, making the institution accessible to a broad spectrum of applicants.

A distinctive feature of the university’s model is its mandatory physical training under Category A, a core component designed to instill discipline, resilience, and excellence in all students.

“As Chancellor, I have insisted on a holistic approach to education—one that upholds moral values, encourages national service, and prepares students for global relevance,” Senator Nwoko added.

“Our facilities are world-class, our curriculum is forward-thinking, and we are committed to producing graduates who will thrive not only locally but internationally.”

Senator Nwoko extended a personal invitation to prospective students, parents, athletes, and professionals, urging them to take advantage of the opportunity to be part of a transformative institution.

“The Sports University of Nigeria is ready. We await your brilliance, your talent, and your dreams,” he said.

With the motto “A Citadel for Champions,” the university aims to become a breeding ground for future leaders in sports, academics, and character development—placing Nigeria at the forefront of sports-integrated education in Africa.
