Special Marshals Hold 2025 Sectoral Workshop In Asagba, Reaffirm Commitment To Safer Roads

The Special Marshals of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), RS5.2 Delta State Sector Command, have reiterated their commitment to enhancing road safety and security strategies across the state.

This reaffirmation came during the 2025 Sectoral Workshop held on Saturday, November 8, at the Special Marshals Secretariat in Asaba.

Themed “Enhancing Security and Safety Strategies for Special Marshals Operations,” the annual workshop served as a platform to build capacity, reorient members, and align operations with the Corps’ mission of creating safer motoring environments for all road users.

Declaring the event open, the State Coordinator, SM Lucky Jumudjayen, expressed gratitude to the Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, for his consistent support and visionary leadership, which continue to inspire Special Marshals nationwide.

He emphasized the importance of continuous training and synergy among stakeholders to meet the evolving challenges of road management and security.

Representing the Corps Marshal, ACM Edward Odiete, ACM SDER, commended the Delta Sector Command for its proactive approach to community-based road safety engagement.

He noted that the Corps remains committed to empowering Special Marshals through regular training and operational reforms.

Similarly, National Coordinator, SM Adaji Usman, FCILG, represented by Zonal Coordinator, Comrade Chief Kennedy Idolor, applauded the dedication and volunteerism of the Marshals.

He described them as “unsung heroes” who continue to give their time, energy, and expertise to save lives on Nigerian roads.

The workshop featured two technical presentations that enriched participants’ knowledge and operational skills.

Brig. Gen. (Engr.) Efe Felix Edafioghor (Rtd.) delivered a lecture on “Best Practices in Security Operations for Special Marshals,” emphasizing discipline, collaboration, and intelligence sharing.

The Sector Commander, CC Joyce Nnennaya Alexander, also presented a paper titled “Operational Excellence and Best Practices for Special Marshals,” urging participants to uphold professionalism and integrity in all field operations.

At the end of the technical sessions, the participants adopted key resolutions, including the need for stronger synergy between Special Marshals, law enforcement agencies, and communities; adherence to FRSC operational guidelines; development of intelligence networks; and the introduction of incentive-based recognition for outstanding Marshals.

The event, attended by representatives of sister agencies, senior FRSC officers, and over 175 Special Marshals, concluded with the presentation of certificates to participants and a vote of thanks.

The 2025 Sectoral Workshop was widely hailed as a resounding success, reinforcing the FRSC’s vision of achieving a crash-free society through collaborative engagement, community intelligence, and operational excellence.
