Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, has described the passing of elder statesman, Chief Edwin Kiagbodo Clark, as a monumental loss, stating that the vacuum left behind will be difficult to fill in the foreseeable future.

The Speaker made this known in a heartfelt tribute delivered during the funeral of the late nationalist at his hometown, Kiagbodo, in Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State.

Among a host of dignitaries who gathered to pay their last respects, Rt. Hon. Guwor hailed Chief Clark as a fearless voice for justice and a relentless advocate for equity and development, particularly for the Niger Delta and Nigeria’s minority groups.

“Chief E.K. Clark lived a selfless life. His unwavering dedication to the rights of the Ijaw nation can never be forgotten,” Guwor said. “He was a titan, a patriot whose voice echoed far beyond the Niger Delta.”

According to the Speaker, Chief Clark’s legacy of speaking truth to power and championing fairness and inclusivity left an indelible mark on Nigeria’s political history.

He credited the late elder statesman with ushering in transformational narratives that impacted not only the South-South but the entire nation.

“Today, we mourn the loss of a champion of justice and development. The South-South, the Niger Delta, and Nigeria at large will sorely miss his patriotic voice on national issues,” he said.

On behalf of the Delta State Legislature and the Delta Ijaw Political Forum, Speaker Guwor prayed for the peaceful repose of Chief Clark’s soul and pledged to continue building on the legacy of justice, equity, and progress that he left behind.
