The Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, has commended Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for prioritizing security as a central focus of his administration.

Guwor gave the commendation during Tuesday’s plenary session while reacting to the report of restored peace and security in Uwheru, Ughelli North Local Government Area, previously troubled by herdsmen attacks.

The Speaker praised the governor’s proactive approach to governance, highlighting his commitment to the safety and well-being of residents as outlined in his MORE Agenda.

He described Oborevwori as a visionary leader who understands that lasting peace and security are essential for meaningful development and economic progress in the state.

Guwor also appreciated security agencies for their effective response and praised the State House of Assembly Committee on Legislative Compliance, chaired by Deputy Speaker Rt. Hon. Arthur Akpowowo, for ensuring the implementation of House resolutions.

“The Delta State House of Assembly welcomes the report of the return of peace and security in Uwheru community. I commend His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, for his swift and decisive response to the security challenges.

“I also thank the security agencies for their efforts and urge them to maintain a strong presence in the area. The House will continue to support the governor in prioritizing the safety of all Deltans,” Guwor stated.

Hon. Spenser Owhofa, Member representing Ughelli North II, also expressed gratitude to the governor, the Speaker, fellow lawmakers, and security stakeholders for resolving the crisis in Uwheru.

Speaking under “Personal Explanation,” Owhofa said residents now feel safe and free to move without fear of attacks or harassment.

He noted that the return of peace has positively impacted the socio-economic life of the Uwheru community, adding that the people are grateful for the swift intervention and lasting solution to the farmers-herdsmen conflict in the area.
