Sacked Chairman of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), in Delta State chapter, Mr. Oke Idawene has has finally resigned his membership of the party after he was disgraced out of the party by the National Working Committee (NWC), over allegations of indiscipline, anti-party activities and gross disrespect to constituted authorities.
Idawene, was quoted by an online platform, Oasis Magazine, had in a letter dated on Friday May 5th 2023, addressed to the Chairman, Isoko South Local Government Area through the Ward Chairman, Olomoro Ward Six (06), resigned his membership of the party.
The demobilized chairman was quoted to have said: “I humbly inform you and my gallant supporters of the SDP family within and outside Delta State of my departure.”
Adding: “This is most undesirable but inevitable having served as State Chairman, Head of different National Committee across the nation, led the forum of State Chairmen SDP Nigeria till date. I have worked tirelessly as an integral part of the NWC as well, you will agree it is not an easy decision.”
In his words: “I quit not because I am a coward but a progressive. Water and kerosene can never mix, I cannot be with the same political party with Olorogun Kenneth Gbagi- light and darkness has nothing in common.”
According to the letter, he said that he was quitting “to sojourn for better platforms” to exhibit his “God given talents for the growth and development of Delta State, Nigeria and the world at large.”
He added: “I appreciate you all, from the Wards to Local Government Areas, State and National.”
It would be recall that the Social Democratic Party (SDP), dissolved the Executive Committee of its Delta State chapter led by Ambassador Oke Idawene.
Shortly after the dissolution, the party also constituted a caretaker committee to run the affairs of the party in the state before it finally suspended Idawene from the party to fave a Panel set up by the National Chairman, Alhaji Musa Gabam.
