The Office of Senator Ned Nwoko has issued a statement to clarify recent online discussions and what it described as misleading reports regarding the status of the Issele-Uku Mini Stadium project.
In a statement signed by Dr. Michael Nwoko, Chief of Staff to Senator Nwoko, the office confirmed that the project remains under construction and has not yet been completed or officially handed over to the Delta State Sports Commission.
“For the avoidance of doubt, the project is still under construction and has not yet been completed or officially handed over to the Delta State Sports Commission.
“Some finishing works are ongoing, particularly in the changing rooms and toilet facilities,” the statement read.
Dr. Nwoko emphasized that the mini stadium, which had been abandoned for several years, belongs to the Delta State Government, adding that Senator Nwoko’s intervention focused on the specific section approved by the Delta State Sports Commission for rehabilitation and development.
He further explained that the youths of Issele-Uku have been granted temporary access to the facility for daily sporting activities, a move described as an act of goodwill aimed at promoting community development and youth engagement.
“The gesture is to encourage sports and community spirit among young people while work on the facility continues,” Dr. Nwoko added.
The Issele-Uku Mini Stadium project is part of Senator Ned Nwoko’s broader commitment to grassroots empowerment, focusing on youth development, sports promotion, and infrastructure enhancement across Delta North Senatorial District.
