Senator Ned Nwoko, representing Delta North Senatorial District in the National Assembly, has expressed profound shock and deep sorrow over the passing of former Deputy Governor of Delta State, Chief Benjamin Elue.

In a condolence message issued in Abuja, the lawmaker described the demise of the elder statesman at the age of 85 as a monumental loss, both personally and to the people of Delta State.

Senator Nwoko recalled decades of close social, cultural, and political association with the late leader, noting that their enduring relationship was built on mutual respect, shared values, and a strong bond of affinity.

He paid glowing tribute to Chief Elue, describing him as a father figure, a humble counsellor, and a dependable confidant whose gentle disposition and dignified conduct earned him widespread admiration.

According to the Senator, the late octogenarian brought rare integrity, honesty, and accountability to public office during his tenure as Deputy Governor, distinguishing himself as one of the finest political leaders the state has produced.

He further noted that Chief Elue’s disciplined approach to governance and his high moral standards set him apart in Nigeria’s often turbulent political environment.

Senator Nwoko described him as a uniquely modest and refined leader whose humility and contentment contrasted sharply with the excesses frequently associated with public office.

“It is with immense grief that I received the sad news of the passing of Chief Benjamin Elue, former Deputy Governor of our dear state,” the Senator stated.

“He will be remembered as an exemplary patriot and accomplished statesman who made outstanding contributions to the growth and development of Delta State.

His legacy of disciplined and selfless service will continue to endure.

“He was a rare breed of leader — modest, principled, and humane. His life embodied service above self and dignity in public conduct.

“Chief Elue’s passing marks the end of an era, but his legacy of integrity, decency, and unwavering commitment to public service will remain indelible in the political history of Delta State.

“On behalf of my associates and the entire people of Delta North, I extend heartfelt condolences to the Elue family, praying for the peaceful repose of his soul and for strength and comfort to bear this irreparable loss,” Senator Nwoko concluded.
