In a strategic effort to promote educational advancement and expand access to tertiary education, the Senator representing Delta North Senatorial District, Senator Ned Nwoko, has launched a free Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) registration programme for 1,500 students ahead of the 2026 academic session.
The initiative is designed to support academically qualified students across the nine local government areas of Delta North, namely Aniocha North, Aniocha South, Ika North East, Ika South, Ndokwa East, Ndokwa West, Oshimili North, Oshimili South, and Ukwuani.
The programme underscores the importance of education as a vital tool for personal development, economic growth, and societal transformation.
In a statement issued on Monday, Senator Nwoko emphasised that education remains the cornerstone of sustainable national development, noting that financial limitations should not hinder capable students from pursuing higher education.
“Education is the foundation upon which meaningful and lasting development is built.
“Through this initiative, we are providing young people with the opportunity to further their education and realise their full potential,” the senator stated.
He explained that prospective beneficiaries must meet the eligibility requirement of attaining at least 16 years of age by September 30, 2026.
Applicants are also required to generate their JAMB Profile Code using their National Identification Number (NIN), while providing their full name, profile code, and council ward to ensure proper documentation and verification.
The application window remains open until Sunday, February 15, 2026, and interested candidates are encouraged to apply through the designated online registration portal.
Senator Nwoko reiterated his commitment to implementing programmes and policies that prioritise youth empowerment, educational accessibility, and long-term socio-economic development within Delta North.
He stressed that investment in education not only equips young people with knowledge and skills but also strengthens communities and fosters national progress.
“This programme reflects our dedication to nurturing future leaders and building a knowledgeable, skilled, and productive generation capable of driving sustainable development,” he added.
The free JAMB registration scheme is expected to significantly reduce the financial burden on families, while motivating more students across Delta North to pursue tertiary education and contribute meaningfully to society.
