In a decisive move to deepen grassroots development and economic inclusion, Senator Ned Nwoko, representing Delta North Senatorial District, has empowered no fewer than 500 youths and women through a comprehensive development programme targeted at self-employment, wealth creation, improved healthcare access and sustainable community growth across the district.

The empowerment initiative, which commenced at the weekend in Asaba, drew beneficiaries from communities across the nine local government areas of Delta North.

Participants underwent intensive capacity-building designed to equip them with modern entrepreneurial and business management skills, positioning them for long-term economic productivity and self-reliance.

At the end of the three-day rigorous training, each beneficiary received a ₦100,000 start-up grant, reinforcing the Senator’s commitment to translating training into immediate economic opportunity.

The programme was coordinated by the Centre for Management Development (CMD) in partnership with ABEAM Global Resources Limited.

Speaking at the empowerment ceremony, Senator Nwoko said the initiative was strategically designed to unlock the vast potential of youths and women as engines of job creation and catalysts for local economic expansion.

He stressed that meaningful and sustainable development begins with deliberate investment in people.

Represented at the event by his Political Adviser, Chief Emmanuel Afam Eboh, the Senator reiterated his deep concern for the welfare and wellbeing of the people of Delta North, assuring that more empowerment initiatives would be introduced in the 2026 legislative year.

He reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to human capital and community development through continuous engagement with the Federal Government under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and in collaboration with the Delta State Government led by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.

Describing young people as “agents of innovation and creativity,” Senator Nwoko pledged sustained investment in education, skills acquisition and entrepreneurship as critical tools for enhancing productivity and economic competitiveness across the district.

He urged the beneficiaries to deploy the skills and resources responsibly, noting that enterprise, youth energy and resilience remain powerful drivers of economic growth, community stability and a sustainable future.

Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, participants described Senator Nwoko as a formidable pillar of the social, political, economic and cultural development of Anioma land, expressing gratitude for the opportunity and support provided.

Those who spoke included Ifeanyi Kelou and Ubaka Samuel (Aniocha North), Angela Onyia Ibekwe (Oshimili South), Lauretta Ehikwe (Ika South), Oseji Ejiro (Ndokwa East), Jamilaye Samuel and Authentic Ojuwa (Ukwuani), as well as Enudi Marcus, President-General of the Anioma Youth Council.

Meanwhile, Senator Nwoko has also announced a Medical Outreach Programme for selected Delta North communities, scheduled for February 1 and 2, 2026.

The outreach will take place at the Primary Healthcare Centre, Agbor, in Ika South Local Government Area, and the Primary Healthcare Centre, Ibusa, in Oshimili North Local Government Area, where residents will receive free medical consultations, drugs and treatment.

The twin interventions underscore Senator Nwoko’s holistic approach to development, combining economic empowerment with accessible healthcare to improve the quality of life of his constituents.
