RERO TV, one of Delta State’s fast-rising online media platforms, will on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, commemorate its 5th anniversary with a grand celebration at the Wetland Event Centre, Sapele.

The milestone event is set to honour the platform’s remarkable journey from humble beginnings to becoming a respected voice in community journalism.

Founded in early 2020 by Mr. Akporero Henry, RERO TV emerged at a time of personal and professional uncertainty.

From volunteering in Lagos with no financial support to returning to Sapele with just ₦6,000 and a vision, Henry launched the channel using basic tools, determination, and a deep passion for storytelling.

With encouragement from his family, particularly his mother and elder brother, and mentorship from prominent local journalists, RERO TV began to carve its niche in the media space, covering grassroots events with a mobile phone and sheer dedication.

Today, RERO TV has grown into a credible news outlet, championing local content, youth voices, and developmental stories across Delta State and beyond.

In recognition of its impact, the 5th anniversary celebration promises to be a memorable gathering of media professionals, traditional leaders, civil society actors, and community stakeholders.

The event will be chaired by Okakuro Dr. Anthony Aghogho Owumi, the Omamigho of Okpe Kingdom, while the Special Guest of Honour will be His Royal Majesty, Udurhie I, Ph.D., the Ovie of Idjerhe Kingdom.

Notably, human rights activist and development advocate, Comrade Lucky Ighoyota, will deliver the keynote address.

Highlighting the platform’s commitment to community development, RERO TV will also present special awards to select Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) for their consistent contributions to social change and humanitarian service.

Speaking ahead of the event, Mr. Akporero expressed deep gratitude to those who have supported RERO TV over the years.

“This journey has been one of faith, sacrifice, and purpose. From recording events with just a mobile phone to building a brand that now resonates with thousands, I remain thankful to everyone who believed in us.

This 5th anniversary is a celebration of grace, grit, and the power of community,” he said.

The event is scheduled to begin at 11:00 AM prompt and is open to the public.
