A group under the ruling Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) in Warri north local government area of Delta State, known as Egbema PDP Advocacy Group, has said it regretted voting for Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori in the 2023 governorship election.
A press statement made available to The Story, and signed by Mr. Carson Tarilade, Group Chairman, Mr. John Timiyo, Group Secretary and Commrade Brandly Coupa, Member said after using their resources and manpower to bring Oborevwori to success, “our people are now being turned a laughing stock, for no other reason than giving unqualified loyalty to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and for queueing massively behind its candidates in the general election that produced His Excellency Oboroweri as Governor”.

Oborevwori’s Contracts Allocation Sectionally Skewed As His Appointments — Egbema PDP Advocacy Group
… he has thrown Egbema out for public ridicule
We, members of Egbema PDP Advocacy Group, have for some time now watched certain unfolding events, particularly in the political landscape of our dear state with grave concern and disbelief. It would appear that a project into which we had fully committed ourselves, our time and our resources is springing back to cut our nose in order to spite our face.
Gentlemen of the press, we have elected to cry out to the world, through the instrumentality of your valued media, because of our agonizing experience in the hands of His Excellency, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, a man who we called our own and rallied round when it mattered most, to help propel him to electoral success especially in the March 18, 2023 gubernatorial election.
Instead of accolades and commendation and, we daresay, rewards for political pragmatism and meaningful support, our people are now being turned a laughing stock, for no other reason than giving unqualified loyalty to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and for queueing massively behind its candidates in the general election that produced His Excellency Oboroweri as Governor.
“It is a matter for much lamentation that today the entire Egbema Kingdom is inundated with unveiled complaints as the people rue the lack of appointments and physical projects in Egbema Kingdom. The question on the lips of the people is what on earth we have done wrong to deserve this inconsiderate and clearly humiliating treatment from a system we contributed to establish and support”, the group said in a press statement released in Warri.
Therefore, we wish to express our displeasure with the way and manner the governor is running Delta State; as a matter of fact, we are dismayed that we, Egbema people of the state, have been completely forgotten. We have been recklessly thrown out of the bus by the Governor.
To throw some light on the matter we are agitated and sore about, please take a look at the Delta State Budget for the 2024 fiscal year. In this particular budget being implemented as we speak, there’s no single project in any of the Four Egbema Federal Wards, in Warri North Local Government Area. Unbelievable?
We wish to state categorically that what we have in the state today is a sectional budget, which does not deviate from the pattern of the appointments made so far by the state’s chief executive. Please do well to check the names of the heads of the Boards and members; you will be shocked that ex-president Buhari and the incumbent, Tinubu are learning!
The nepotism is so much.
The people are regretting why they ever voted for him. He got our votes and rewarded us with so much impunity. Egbema people are never in his calculation as people in the state. But he must know that God sees his actions and justice belongs to him.
A kingdom and people whose oil money, with which he runs the state, have been completely abandoned. This is the message we are sending to him. In all the boards constituted and inaugurated so far, in the entire Ijaw population in the state, only one person made a board chairman. Nothing is permanent; his time will come and go in line with natural law.
We sincerely thank you for your patience and attention.
Signed:
Mr. Carson Tarilade, Group Chairman;
Mr. John Timiyo, Group Secretary;
Commrade Brandly Coupa, Member.
