A chieftain of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP), in Olomu, Ughelli south local government area of Delta State who resides in Aladja, Udu local government area of the State, Mr. Robinson Onokahweri, has cried out for financial assistance, to enable him get medical attention.
Mr. Onokahweri, was the immediate past PDP Coordinator in the just concluded election in Olomu Ward 2.
It was alleged that Mr. Onokahweri, was shot on his left leg by soldiers deployed to restore peace during the heat of the renewed crisis between Aladja community in Udu local government area and Ogbe-Ijoh in Warri south west local government area of the State.
The ugly incident occured on 22nd July 2023, when he was rushing home to rescue his family, (wife and children), when the crisis was at its peak.
Reliable information at our disposal revealed that Mr. Onokahweri, was then hospitalized with a demand of N4 million by the hospital management on Udu road before the commencement of treatment.
It was learnt that the PDP coordinator’s leg was almost amputated but for the effort of one of the party’s leaders in Ughelli south, Chief John Oguma, who assisted him with the sum of N500, 000.
It was also gathered that Aladja Community where he resides equally assisted him with a N100, 000 to access medical attention.
A source who do not want the name on print, revealed that Mr. Onokahweri, who has been discharged home now manage to walk with crutches around the house, his wife had just put to bed two weeks ago as she was heavily pregnant during the crisis.
The source disclosed that the Special Assistant to the State Governor on Community Development, Evangelist Charles Buluku, was also on ground to render financial assistance in his capacity.
It was gathered that some political leaders in Ughelli south who paid him visit when he was at the hospital, made empty promises, abandoned him and never returned.
The present situation of Mr. Onokahweri, is very pathetic as he has no money for drugs, eat and take care of his new born baby and wife.
