…Insists Ughelli South Remains PDP Stronghold

UGHELLI South Local Government Area chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Saturday, took a swipe on the Deputy Senate President, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege over recent media reports credited to him wherein he accused Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of concentrating more on the development of Owa Kingdom where he hails from to the detriment of other parts of the State.

Chairman and Secretary of the party in the Local Government Area, Mr Oshetienigho Djegbe and Mr Ivbromonena Balogun, respectively, said: “Facts they say speak for itself.

“What Governor Ifeanyi Okowa has done in Ughelli South and Delta State as a whole in the last six years plus are very visible for everybody to see, except for the blind who are basically within the fold of the All Progressives Congress, APC in the State.

“Since assumption of office in 2015, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa has virtually touched every part of the State including Orogun, the hometown of the opposition leader in the State, the Deputy President of the Nigerian Senate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege.

“Almost all the internal roads in Orogun and other infrastructures were done by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP led government of Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, a detribalized leader, who does not consider political sentiments in sitting projects.

“Unlike the Deputy President of the Nigerian Senate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, who sited almost all the viable and people oriented projects he influenced from the Federal Government in his homeland, Orhomuru-Orogun, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa’s project are everywhere across the State.

“The Federal Polytechnic, Airspace School, Power substation, Nigerian Law School, among other viable projects influenced by the Deputy Senate President, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege to Delta Central, which he represents at the Senate, are sited in Orogun, except for scanty street lights and transformers which he threw to other communities as crumbs, making them look like beggars after giving him their mandate to represent them at the Senate.

“It is appalling and annoying for the Deputy Senate President, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege to have hired some worthless politicians to Ovwor-Olomu, a strong hold of the PDP, under the guise of receiving decampees who were not hitherto members of our great party, the PDP.

“The PDP, which is benefactor of Senator Ovie Omo-Agege and his like in the APC, has done so much for Deltans to the extent that the party is now in the DNA of every Deltan, except for few disgruntled elements who were not given the space to perpetrate bad representation/leadership in the State.

“The Deputy Senate President, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege was part and parcel of the PDP until 2015 when he left to contest the senatorial election under the platform of the Democratic Peoples Party, DPP after losing the PDP Governorship ticket to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa.

“What Governor Ifeanyi Okowa has done in the last six years plus with the meagre resources coming into the State occasioned by the poor economic policies of the APC led Federal Government, is unprecedented.

“It is most unfortunate, that some people could pretend to be blind or not to be seeing the great infrastructural development projects being executed by Governor Ifeanyi Okowa in the State because of political sentiments.

Some of the completed and ongoing projects done by Governor Ifeanyi Okowa in Ughelli South Local Government Area for which the people are eternally grateful to him, are; “Renovation of Okpare Primary Health Care Centre; Renovation of Otor-Ewu Primary Health Care Centre.
