The recent conferment of an Honorary Doctorate Degree on High Chief Government Ekpemupolo (Tompolo) by Edwin Clark University has continued to attract widespread commendations from across the country.
Among the latest is former Deputy Governor of Delta State, H.E. Deacon Barr. Kingsley B. Otuaro, who described the recognition as a well-deserved tribute to Tompolo’s decades of impactful service and leadership.
In a statement, Otuaro commended Tompolo’s unwavering contributions to peacebuilding, community development, and the advancement of the Niger Delta, noting that his influence has remained “consistent, constructive, and deeply felt” throughout the region.
He observed that the university’s decision reflects a broader national acknowledgment of Tompolo’s role in stabilizing communities, fostering dialogue, and supporting development-oriented initiatives.
According to him, Tompolo has “shaped conversations, empowered local programmes, and demonstrated that true leadership is measured by tangible results rather than public speeches.”
Otuaro further stated that the honour reinforces values that Tompolo has long championed, the preservation of cultural heritage, investment in people, and the pursuit of fairness and justice.
He expressed confidence that the new academic recognition would energize Tompolo’s ongoing advocacy and inspire younger Niger Deltans to embrace service-driven leadership.
“Congratulations to my brother, High Chief Government Ekpemupolo,” Otuaro said.
“This recognition is truly well deserved, and I believe even greater achievements await him.”
