The cerebral mother of Anioma Nation and Nneoha (Mother To All and Mother Without Borders), HRM Obi Martha Dunkwu has congratulated the Delta State Governor-elect, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori on his victory at the just concluded gubernatorial election.
In a statement signed by the Omu at her Palace in Okpanam, the Queen Mother appreciated God Almighty, the Great Ancestors of Delta State and Okpe Kingdom in particular, and the Guiding Spirit of their son for seeing him through, in spite of the turbulence that greeted the electioneering process.
She said, “The Okpe Kingdom is my second home as our Father, the Immediate Past Orodje of Okpe Kingdom conferred on my humble person the Chieftaincy Title of ‘UKERETI OF OKPE KINGDOM’, meaning the Shining Star of Okpe Kingdom on Friday 14th June, 1999 at his Majestic Palace in Orerokpe.
“The current Orodje is highly achieved, highly respected and revered Father of mine. Sheriff Oborevwori is a man on a mission whose journey has indeed come to fruition”.
Omu recalled that a week before the election of March 18, 2023, the PDP Family in Okpanam had sought her counsel and prayer to conquer the daunting challenges bedeviling her chances, affirming that she indeed prayed as a mother; thereby thanking God that the prayers were heard and answered.
Her words, “The business of governance is everybody’s business. It’s only of God’s divine mandate that Sheriff Oborevwori emerged the leader of the corporate Delta.
“On this note, I advise that everybody should be involved in the government to come, in order to give way for collectivity of ideas and cohesion of purpose.
“Sheriff Oborevwori appears simple and gentle; he needs to become simpler and gentler in approaching issues of State security, peace, unity, citizens’ welfare, development and be willing to harmonise the multiplicity of goals and aspirations of all Ethnic Nationalities in Delta State, into a common policy acceptable to all.
“He must harness all vestiges of interests and collate for the purposes of making informed and right decisions for governance.
“We are here, we can assist where necessary. It’s our State, and so, should there be anything for us to do, he should not hesitate to beckon on us. The Traditional Rulers must be given their deserved pride of place in matters of security and peaceful coexistence of our people.
“From my collective observations, the Governor-Elect has come a long way, from a humble but rough beginning, to a place of honour. I want to believe he will do well judging from where he is coming from.
“However, he should regularly appreciate the hand of God in his project. Once again, I say congratulation to our dear Governor-Elect”, Omu Dunkwu concluded.
