Oloye Slams Omo-Agege Over False Claims On Burutu, Bomadi Development

A member of the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. (Chief) Pereotu Oloye, has criticized Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, the 2023 governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State, accusing him of misleading the public with false claims about the development of Burutu and Bomadi Local Government Areas.

Reacting to a statement attributed to Omo-Agege, in which the former Deputy Senate President alleged that the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) had neglected Burutu and Bomadi for over 25 years, Oloye described the assertion as a blatant distortion of facts for political gain.

The lawmaker, who represents Burutu II Constituency, expressed particular concern that Omo-Agege made the misleading claim in Torugbene, a community within his constituency.

He noted that while political debates are expected, deliberately spreading misinformation to mislead the people is unacceptable.

“PDP Has Delivered Significant Development in Burutu and Bomadi” – Oloye

Refuting the claim that PDP-led administrations had abandoned Burutu and Bomadi, Oloye insisted that numerous projects and programs had been executed in the region, positively impacting lives.

“In reality, our party has implemented numerous infrastructural and social development projects that have transformed Burutu, Bomadi, and other communities,” he stated.

Listing some major ongoing and completed projects, Oloye highlighted:

The multi-million naira Ayakoromo Bridge project, recently reviewed for faster completion.

Egodo-Ogbeingbene Road project and Okerenkoko-Pepper-Ama-Kokodiagbene Road.

Rehabilitation of the Bomadi-Gbaregolor Road and expansion of the Bomadi-Ohoro Road.

Scoping of the Torugbene-Ojobo Road.

According to Oloye, these projects demonstrate the PDP-led government’s commitment to the Ijaw Nation’s development under Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, whom he praised for his courage and dedication to governance.

Omo-Agege Indicted Himself – Oloye

Oloye also pointed out that Omo-Agege’s statement ironically indicted himself, given that he was once a key PDP member in Delta State.

He reminded the senator that PDP provided him platforms for political growth, having served as Executive Assistant, Commissioner, and Secretary to the State Government (SSG) under its administration.

Challenging Omo-Agege to present evidence of projects he attracted to Burutu and Bomadi during his tenure as Deputy Senate President, Oloye insisted that “talk is cheap,” adding that Deltans are too politically aware to be deceived by false narratives.

Development is a Continuous Process” – Oloye Advises Omo-Agege

Oloye urged Omo-Agege to embrace constructive criticism rather than spreading misinformation for political relevance.

He reminded him that governance is ongoing, and the Oborevwori administration remains committed to delivering even more development in the future.

“Let’s focus on meaningful contributions rather than deceptive propaganda,” Oloye stated, assuring his constituents that more dividends of democracy would come under the MORE agenda of Governor Oborevwori.

He urged residents of Burutu and Bomadi to remain vigilant, informed, and supportive of genuine governance efforts, stressing that Delta State is on the path to greater development under the current administration.
