The oldest person in Umunede, extraction, Ika north east local government area of Delta State, Mama Ruth Ijenwa Nzemeke Adagbon nee Onyekpe, fondly called Nne-Nta from the Idumu-Ishiorji in Obi Quarters of Umunede has passed on at the age of 122.
Mama Adagbon slept in the Lord on the morning of Thursday, July 20, 2023, after taking her breakfast.
The traditional ruler of Umunede kingdom, His Royal Majesty (HRM), Dr. Ezeagwu Ezenwali Agadagidi I, JP had confirmed her to be the oldest person in Umunede and probably in Ika nation.
Obi Agadagidi bade the late Mama Adagbon farewell to eternity, describing her as a quiet woman who was never found wanting and commiserated with her family.
The son of the late Mama Adagbon, Pastor Abel Adagbon said her mother did not die but according to the words of the elders has flown to meet her maker.
According to him, “We are not mourning but celebrating the exit of a good mother whose prayers are a huge blessing for her children and descendants.
“Her old age is a blessing to us even before she took her last breath because she did not make us run from one hospital to another for ill health.
“As a Sabbatarian, she was committed to all the activities of her church that she was honored with Nnezukor title, meaning the mother of the church.
“Her neatness even at old age attracted people to her. In all, she was a mother to all and a rallying point for good advice”.
Late Mama Adagbon is survived by her five children, two males and three females.
Her other children are Okporonye, Uche, Sunday, and Paulina.
The deceased was the only surviving child of her parents.
According to the family, her burial rites will be announced later.
