A Commissioner in Delta State, has been alleged of forcefully collecting N5.7 million from an adhoc delegate (names withheld) she nominated for the just concluded Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) governorship primaries held on 25th May 2022, at the Stephen Keshi International Stadium, Asaba, the State capital.

It was gathered that the action of the Commissioner is presently causing uproar after she took the sum of N5,700,000 from N6,000,000, allegedly given to the adhoc delegate, leaving her with N300, 000 as parting gift.

“Adhoc delegates in the last primary constituted the core of the last primaries had reportedly received ‘bribe’ from aspirants to curry their votes with each making life fortunes from the election.

“The lady is from the same ward with the Commissioner, after the primaries, the Commissioner demanded for all the monies she received from aspirants.

“Surprised on how she knew the exact cash, the lady then brought the cash and the next thing she did was to handout N300, 000 to her while she kept the other N5.7 million to herself saying that she will give part of the N5.7 million to the a House member for nominating her as Commissioner”, a source alleged.

The source continued: “It is very bad that she is trying to paint the House member who is currently battling with his ticket, her own brother in a bad light. How will she take a whole N5.7 million from the N6 million, leaving her with N300, 000, that is greed.

“Let the House member intervene, her excuse was that she wants to give part of the money to the House member who nominated her as Commissioner and some leaders in the ward and as I speak to you, none of the leaders in the ward has gotten a dime” the source revealed.

Contacted to get the Commissioner’s side of the story, a receiver from her end who claimed she is the Commissioner’s SA, said “this is the SA, madam and other Commissioners are not on ground. I think that matter has been settled. I am the SA, she is not on sit”, the voice replied.

The Story, however pressed further to hear from the Commissioner, but text message sent to the Commissioner’s line, was rebuffed.
