Delta State Government has flagged off a 4-day training programme for Auto-Mechanics and Technicians on Automotive Diagnostic Scanning with a call on the participants to take the training seriously to upgrade themselves with modern technology.
The state Governor, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, flagged off the training at the Information Communication Technology centre in Asaba.
Governor Okowa, who was represented by Commissioner for Transport, Chief Micheal Okah, said the training programme was part of the efforts of the present administration to empower Deltans and other residents in the state to enable them to acquire standard training and practical skills on how to use modern maintenance and diagnostic equipment.
He said the present administration had been involved in numerous programmes of empowerment including Youth Agricultural Entrepreneurs Programme (YAGEP), Skills Training and Entrepreneurship Programme ( STEP), and Production and Processing Support Programme (PPSP), among others.
The Governor said the programme which would involve the training of over 600 Auto-Mechanics and Technicians in Asaba and Warri zones was one of the measures to equip the trainees with diagnostic scanners to replace the crude manual means by which auto-mechanics detect faults in vehicles.
The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor, Office of the Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Felix Ideh, in his remarks, stated that the programme would help to empower the participants with knowledge and skills and urged them to take the training seriously in appreciation of the state government’s effort towards upgrading them.
The Automotive Diagnostic Scanning Training Programme for Auto-Mechanics and Technicians will end on Friday this week in Asaba, while those in Warri will hold theirs from Monday, November 7 to Thursday, November 10, 2022
