Leading governorship candidate in Delta State, under the auspices of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), His Excellency, Olorogun Barr. Kenneth Gbagi OON, has carpeted the State governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, for making frantic efforts to impose Sheriff Oborevwori on Deltans, in the forthcoming general elections.
Okowa, during his quarterly briefing in May 2022, said that he has not heard from God concerning his successor in office come 2023, just as he said he has not endorsed any aspirant under the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) to succeed him in 2023.
However, Okowa, who “lies with perfidy”, had allegedly given directive to all PDP delegates across the 25 local government areas of the state, to ensure that the current Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Oborevwori, emerges victorious during the primaries.
Addressing a mammoth crowd of SDP members, supporters and support groups in Ethiope east local government area of the State on Saturday January 14th 2023, during the governorship campaign rally in Isiokolo, Gbagi said Deltans should vehemently reject the imposition of the governorship candidate of PDP on them.
The SDP gubernatorial candidate and largest private investor in the State said Okowa is unfit to choose who becomes governor for Deltans especially Urhobos, saying “Urhobo will choose their governor”.
The former Chairman, Legal Aid Council of Nigeria, said Okowa cannot choose governor for Urhobo people, rather he should allow the Urhobos to choose their own governor.
He described Okowa as one of the precursors of Delta’s ongoing challenges – socio-economic and security, maintaining that Okowa’s endorsement of Oborevwori, is rather a disservice to the State, instead of being a boost.
Hear him: “Okowa, will not choose governor for Urhobo people, Urhobo will choose their governor. That is why I have come to you all.
“I present myself to you. My father is from Oginibo, my mother is from Jesse. I am a lawyer, I am a Criminologist, my certificates are real and I am going to develop and transform Delta State”, the industrialist declared.
