Former Governor of Delta State, Dr. Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, has been appointed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, as the South-South Lead Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Initiative, a key socio-economic intervention platform of the Federal Government.
The appointment has been widely described as well-deserved, reflecting national recognition of Dr. Okowa’s proven leadership, administrative depth, and longstanding commitment to development across Nigeria.
Reacting to the news, the Honourable Commissioner for Special Duties (Government House), Dr. Ifeanyi Michael Osuoza, congratulated Dr. Okowa, noting that his track record in public service makes him an excellent fit for the regional assignment.
According to Osuoza, Dr. Okowa’s years of service, as Governor, Senator, and accomplished statesman, have consistently demonstrated excellence, inclusiveness, and a passion for human and infrastructural development.
He added that Okowa’s capacity for governance, consensus-building, and strategic planning “sets him apart as a natural choice for this crucial role.”
Osuoza emphasized that the Renewed Hope Initiative requires leaders with integrity, broad experience, and genuine concern for the welfare of the people, qualities Dr. Okowa is well known for.
He noted that the appointment also reinforces the principle that national development transcends politics, resting on competence and service.
With the South-South region looking forward to accelerated development interventions, expectations of Dr. Okowa’s impact are high.
Osuoza expressed confidence that Okowa’s calm leadership style, visionary approach, and administrative strength will significantly advance the goals of the Initiative.
He wished Dr. Okowa continued success, renewed strength, and divine guidance as he assumes the new national responsibility.
