The Chief Press Secretary to the Delta State Governor, Sir Festus Ahon, has been honoured with a distinguished merit award by the Association of Community Newspaper Publishers of Nigeria (ACNPN), Delta State Chapter, for his outstanding professionalism and contributions to journalism.

The award was presented during the Association’s 2025 Publishers Week and Lecture in Ibusa, Oshimili North Local Government Area.

Presenting the plaque, the Member representing Oshimili North in the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. Frank Esenwah, described Ahon as a seasoned journalist whose career embodies integrity, hard work and exemplary communication service.

Sir Ahon, who was represented at the event by Assistant Director of Information, Mr Ivovi Aruoriwo, expressed deep gratitude to the Association, noting that the recognition would further inspire him to uphold the highest standards of professional conduct.

“An award of this nature is a powerful motivation,” he said. “It encourages me to remain committed to ethical values, excellence and service to the public.”

He dedicated the award to God, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, media aides in Government House, and practising journalists across Delta State.

Ahon praised ACNPN for its collaboration with the state government, noting that community newspapers play a vital role in strengthening the link between government and the people, particularly at the grassroots.
