Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s impressive performance and numerous achievements in less than two years in office have unsettled opposition leaders across Delta State’s three senatorial districts, according to Dr. Barr. Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, Director General of the Delta State Orientation and Communications Bureau.

Speaking on a public affairs radio program on Saturday, Oghenesivbe dismissed opposition politicians preparing for the 2027 governorship election, describing their efforts as futile.

He argued that recent criticisms from the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) are weak and ineffective strategies that cannot overshadow the governor’s remarkable strides in governance.

N275 Billion for Mega Projects: A Game-Changer

Highlighting Oborevwori’s commitment to transforming Delta State, Oghenesivbe pointed to the recent approval of N275 billion for major infrastructural projects.

He described this as a bold step towards fast-tracking socioeconomic and infrastructural development in the state.

He further emphasized that Oborevwori’s visionary leadership and prudent resource management had earned him the “Governor of the Year” award in Nigeria.

According to Oghenesivbe, the governor’s ability to execute large-scale projects has further boosted his popularity, leaving some political opponents “suffocating” ahead of the 2027 elections.

Defections and Political Realignment

Oghenesivbe downplayed the recent defection of two federal lawmakers from the PDP, arguing that their exit had no negative impact on the party. Instead, he claimed it had further strengthened Oborevwori’s standing among the people.

He assured that PDP would reclaim all lost seats at the National Assembly in 2027, adding that any attempt to undermine the governor’s reputation would ultimately fail.

Drug-Free Delta Campaign Gains Momentum

Beyond infrastructure, Oborevwori’s administration is also tackling social issues, including drug abuse.

Oghenesivbe highlighted the “Drug-Free Delta” campaign as a groundbreaking initiative jointly executed by the state government and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).

He noted that the campaign, which has already resonated with secondary school students, will culminate in a grand finale at Royal Place Hall, Orerokpe, Okpe local government area, on February 18.

Plans are also underway to extend the initiative to higher institutions across Delta State’s three senatorial districts.

PDP Confident of Victory in 2027

Oghenesivbe expressed confidence that opposition parties’ attempts to tarnish Oborevwori’s image would collapse.

He insisted that PDP remains unshaken by defections and political propaganda, assuring that the party’s achievements will speak for themselves in the 2027 elections.

“Come 2027, eligible voters will cast their ballots based on Governor Oborevwori’s remarkable scorecard, not on lies and media propaganda,” he declared.

“His leadership is a divine project, delivering unprecedented progress that no true Deltan can ignore.”

He concluded by stressing that the N275 billion approved for projects at the year’s first State Executive Council meeting is a testament to Oborevwori’s commitment to development.

According to him, this milestone sets a record that will be difficult for any administration to surpass.
