…Says Delta upscaling economic growth, agricultural revolution
Director General, Delta State Orientation and Communications Bureau, Dr Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe Esq, has said that the excellent performance rating from the Nigeria Institute of Public Relations, NIPR, is a testament to the good governance strides of governor Sheriff Oborevwori.
He noted that the NIPR’s commendation had resonated with the general assessment by majority of the people of Delta State, considering the fact that the governor did not borrow money from any bank or financial institution to fund his mega projects, assuring that the state government will continue to leverage fiscal discipline, prudent management of resources and accountability to Advance Delta.
Dr Oghenesivbe made the assertion during a live radio program on Saturday, saying that the NIPR team led by the Institute’s Vice President, Professor Emmanuel Dandaura, were visibly excited and amazed by the quality of work and advanced engineering deployed at the construction sites of Obo River mega Bridge and Ughelli-Asaba dualization road project spanning over 120 kilometers by China construction company, CCECC.
He disclosed that by the time the NIPR team arrived DSC roundabout, PTI and Enerhen junction flyovers and pedestrian bridges under construction by Julius Berger Nigeria Plc, it done on them that Delta under the leadership of governor Sheriff Oborevwori is poised to consistently deliver solid and durable infrastructural and socioeconomic projects beyond 2027, through the instrumentality of the MORE agenda.
The State Bureau of Communications Director General, said the massive ongoing construction work at DSC roundabout, PTI and Enerhen junction had significantly transformed the the entire landscape, opened up thousands of jobs for professionals, skilled and unskilled workers, adding that the flyovers are beginning to take shape, and almost ready to connect cities, towns and communities.
He further disclosed that governor Oborevwori is pioneering a new wage of agricultural revolution in the state through the D-CARES initiative and other multifaceted partnerships, wherein thousands of farmers and young entrepreneurs received funds, farm implements, fertilizes and seedlings.
Dr Oghenesivbe assured that the State Bureau for Job and Wealth Creation is currently processing applications, and shall empower additional 2,000 entrepreneurs to further boost the state economy, saying that the governor recently extended Bursary payment to Law School students of Delta State origin.
“As a government, we are inspired by the excellent rating from the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, NIPR. It is a genuine testament of governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s performance.
“NIPR was founded in 1963, and became Chartered in 1990 by Decree No 16 of the Federal Government, recognized as the sole regulatory body for the practice of Public Relations in Nigeria.
“The Institute’s excellent quality rating of governor Oborevwori’s mega infrastructure and socioeconomic projects, both completed and ongoing across Delta State, truly resonates with the consistent accolades from majority of Deltans, and indeed Nigerians, confirming the enviable performance of this administration.
“The Institute was amazed at the quality of job done in terms of materials used, advanced engineering, and the deployment of high-tech equipment on site.
“The two construction companies, Julius Berger Nigeria Plc for the flyerovers, and China company, CCECC for the Ughelli-Asaba dualization road project, are performing according to the engineering designs and standards. Their site engineers were available and had to explain all technical questions from the NIPR team.
“Prof Dandaura, National Vice President of NIPR commended governor Oborevwori for embarking on multifaceted gigantic and capital intensive projects without borrowing money from banks and financial institutions,” Oghenesivbe said.
The NIPR Directors Conference and Retreat was held in Asaba from 4th to 8th November, 2024 with the theme “Leveraging technology and Data-Drive Insights for Digital communications.”
The conference was attended by Public Relations Executives, Directors and Professionals in Nigeria, including; Elder Emma Ogidi, a fellow of the Institute and former National Vice Chairman, South-South geopolitical zone of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
