Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has received commendation for his efforts in maintaining peace and stability across the state through the strategic implementation of community-focused projects and empowerment initiatives.

Mr. Olisa Ifeajika, the Governor’s Executive Assistant on Public Enlightenment (Projects and Policies), shared these insights during an appearance on “Niger Delta Today” on ADBN Television.

Ifeajika characterized the Oborevwori administration’s governance model as strategic, inclusive, and highly effective, emphasizing that it has enhanced community cohesion, grassroots development, and security throughout the state.

He attributed the current climate of relative peace in Delta State not to chance, but to a series of deliberate and coordinated government actions.

“What we are experiencing in Delta State, particularly regarding security, is something that other states genuinely admire. The peace we enjoy is the result of intentional and meticulously planned efforts by the Delta State Government,” he stated.

Youth engagement plays a pivotal role in the administration’s strategy for peace, according to Ifeajika, who explained that the government has launched various programs aimed at engaging the youth productively.

“When young people are meaningfully involved, they are less likely to engage in restlessness or criminal activities. The government has introduced programs that resonate with youths and foster their growth,” Ifeajika remarked.

He further highlighted the proactive stance of the state government in bolstering security agencies by supplying equipment and logistics from state resources, rather than relying solely on federal support.

“Security agencies in Delta State are well-supported, adequately equipped, and highly motivated. There is also a coordinated Joint Task Force established to ensure comprehensive coverage throughout the state,” he added.

As the 2027 political season approaches, Ifeajika pointed out that the police command has stressed the importance of maintaining the existing peace, which has been cultivated through deliberate engagement, encouragement, and trust, especially within the youth demographic.

Reflecting on the early days of the administration, Ifeajika acknowledged initial skepticism but emphasized that the government opted for action over debate in addressing criticism.

“Instead of participating in endless discussions, the administration chose to respond with visible, impactful projects. Today, the results speak for themselves,” he said.

The ongoing development initiatives span across the entire state, benefiting nearly every community through various interventions, including support for security agencies.

He asserted that this widespread development fosters community satisfaction, redirecting energies toward productive pursuits and away from undesirable activities, thereby reinforcing peace.

“This peace is intentional. Residents see projects in their neighborhoods and feel a sense of ownership. This collective involvement is a crucial factor in the continued tranquility of Delta State,” he noted.

Regarding recent advancements in security, Ifeajika credited improvements to public confidence in governance, suggesting that noticeable development naturally alleviates tensions.

“When citizens are content and observe their leaders addressing their aspirations, hostility diminishes.

“Those who were once skeptical are now praising the government. Happiness cultivates peace,” he said, adding that some security strategies must remain confidential for operational integrity.

On the topic of infrastructure, Ifeajika pointed to significant road and flyover projects across the state, noting that even the announcement of initiatives like the Uromi Junction Flyover in Agbor and the Otovwodo Junction Flyover in Ughelli has generated public excitement due to their life-saving and economic benefits.

“These are substantial investments to be executed by reputable contractors, ensuring quality, durability, and long-term value.

“Bridges, flyovers, and road expansions are enhancing connectivity among communities, reducing travel times, and stimulating economic activity,” he explained.

He urged community participation, encouraging residents to actively monitor local projects and report any substandard work through designated government channels to ensure accountability.

Governor Oborevwori has encouraged Deltans and residents to utilize the government’s “whistle-blowing” policy to report instances of poor workmanship by contractors.

In terms of economic empowerment, Ifeajika announced the introduction of a N1 billion loan scheme aimed at supporting operators of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in the state.

This scheme, managed by the Bank of Industry, complements existing business empowerment and skill acquisition programs targeted at traders, youths, women, farmers, artisans, and widows.

The program provides one-digit interest financing through credible development finance institutions, ensuring transparency, sustainability, and access for a wider pool of beneficiaries.

In agriculture, Ifeajika mentioned that over 12,000 farmers across various value chains have been supported with inputs, funding, and technical assistance.

Additionally, civil servants have been encouraged to participate in “Homestead” farming to enhance food security.

He highlighted the state’s large-scale rice farming initiative in Aviara, Isoko South Local Government Area, as a significant step toward food sufficiency, job creation, and reduced reliance on food imports.

In conclusion, Ifeajika asserted that the combination of security investments, youth engagement, infrastructure development, economic empowerment, and agricultural expansion has positioned Delta State as a peaceful, stable, and prosperous destination.

“Delta is rapidly emerging as an exceptional place to live, work, and conduct business,” he concluded.
