The Commissioner in charge of the Directorate of Riverine Infrastructure Development, Chief Ebikeme Clark, has reaffirmed that Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, remains unwavering and irrevocably committed to the sustainable development of riverine communities across the state.

Chief Clark made this known during an inspection tour of ongoing projects in Warri North and Warri South-West Local Government Areas, reiterating that the Oborevwori administration is resolute in delivering impactful infrastructure to riverine areas in line with the Governor’s MORE Agenda.

Among the projects inspected were the 3.1-kilometre Kolokolo–Tisun Road in Warri North LGA and the Oporoza Model Secondary School in Warri South-West LGA.

The Commissioner was accompanied by engineers from the Directorate, representatives of Ocean Explorers Nigeria Limited, the construction firm handling the road project and leaders of the benefiting communities.

Addressing stakeholders during the visit, Chief Clark emphasized that Governor Oborevwori is determined to ensure that residents of riverine communities enjoy infrastructure comparable in quality to that available in urban centres, notwithstanding the environmental and logistical challenges posed by the creek terrain.

“This is the deep creek of Delta State. Some once believed that nothing tangible could be achieved here because of the terrain. However, for Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, terrain is not a limitation.

“Having demonstrated capacity in urban development, he is replicating the same standards in riverine communities. He is breaking long-standing barriers,” Clark stated.

He noted that the Kolokolo–Tisun road project was awarded to a competent contractor to guarantee durability and adherence to high construction standards, stressing that the state government would not tolerate substandard execution.

The Commissioner commended the contractor for the significant progress recorded and the quality of work delivered thus far, despite prevailing environmental challenges.

He further observed that while the contractor handling the Oporoza project has demonstrated commendable competence and capacity, operations have been considerably constrained by the difficult terrain.

Clark also lauded the host communities for their peaceful cooperation, describing their support as critical to the timely completion of development initiatives.

In his remarks, the General Manager of Ocean Explorers Nigeria Limited, Amb. Muobor Krubu, disclosed that the 3.1-kilometre road contract was awarded in September 2025 with a completion timeline of twelve months.

He assured stakeholders of the company’s commitment to delivering the project within schedule and commended the host communities for their cooperation.

Community leaders, including the Chairman of Kolokolo Community, Mr. Gabriel Tetsola; the Secretary of Tisun Community, Mr. Frederick Kuke; the Chairman of Oporoza Community, Mr. Emmanuel Ebi; and Chief Demebi Izirimi, expressed profound appreciation to the Delta State Government.

They described the projects as unprecedented development interventions in their communities and pledged continued support for Governor Oborevwori’s administration.

Upon completion, the Oporoza Model Secondary School will feature male and female hostels, staff quarters, a well-equipped library, science laboratories, administrative offices, and other modern facilities designed to enhance teaching and learning.

The inspection tour underscores the Oborevwori administration’s sustained efforts to bridge infrastructural deficits and promote balanced, inclusive development across all parts of Delta State.
