Contractors handling projects for the Delta State government who absconded from site in the last one year would be shown the door.

Delta State governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori said his government would no longer tolerate such actions in which contracts awarded to construction firms last more than one year, warning that such contracts would be determined.

This was revealed on Monday November 11, 2024, by the Commissioner for Information, Dr. Ifeanyi Osuoza, during the post exco briefing in government house, Asaba, the State capital.

According to him, “the exco advised our contractors whose projects have stayed with them for the past one year and have refused to mobilize to site, that such projects would be determined.

“We cannot wait for any contractor who mobilize to site as it pleases them. No, there is zero tolerance to such delays.

“Every project has the advantage of this dry season and every serious minded contractor should mobilize to site to execute their jobs but those that refused to mobilize to site, such jobs will be determined forthwith”, he stressed.

Also speaking, the State Commissioner for Works, Rural and Riverine Roads, Mr Charles Aniagwu, disclosed that “the governor has said any contractor whose contract has lasted for more than one year and he did not move to site, that contract would be determined.

“That means even in the last administration that the contract was given to you and you did not mobilize to site we will determine it so that we can make progress and move forward”.
