Oborevwori Named New Telegraph Governor (Infrastructure) of the Year

Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has been honored as Governor of the Year (Infrastructure) 2024 by New Telegraph Newspaper in recognition of his administration’s remarkable contributions to infrastructural development in the state.

The award, which follows a similar recognition by THISDAY/ARISE MEDIA Group for fiscal discipline and infrastructure, was presented during a grand ceremony at Oriental Hotels, Lagos.

Representing Governor Oborevwori at the event, Deputy Governor Sir Monday Onyeme emphasized that the award reflects the administration’s strong partnership with the people of Delta State in delivering democratic dividends.

He highlighted the Governor’s commitment to infrastructure, stating that the government has successfully completed inherited and newly initiated projects without resorting to borrowing.

“This award reassures us that our efforts align with the needs of Deltans and are being recognized globally,” Onyeme said.

“We promised a government that works for the people, and today’s honor is a testament to that commitment. No project has been abandoned, and every initiative is aimed at making life better for our people.”

He further stressed that Delta State’s progress extends beyond infrastructure to education, healthcare, agriculture, and human capital development.

He noted that Delta remains the only state with four well-functioning public universities and has continued to invest in strengthening the education sector.

Similarly, the health sector is undergoing significant improvements, including the construction of a College of Health Technology in Ovrode.

“In every sector—education, health, agriculture, and human capital development—we are making strides,” Onyeme added.

“Through initiatives like D-CARES, we are empowering new entrepreneurs and ensuring sustainable economic growth.”

Chairman of the occasion, Chief Olabode George, applauded the awardees for their contributions to national unity and development, urging the younger generation to embrace service to the nation.

Publisher of New Telegraph, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, congratulated the recipients, affirming that the newspaper remains committed to recognizing excellence across various sectors.

In his welcome address, Managing Director and Editor-in-Chief of New Telegraph Newspaper, Mr. Ayodele Aminu, stated that the awards are designed to honor outstanding Nigerians in governance, industry, and other fields, encouraging them to strive for greater achievements.

Other notable awardees at the event included Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Mr. Festus Keyamo, SAN, who was named Minister of the Year, and High Chief Government Ekpemupolo, Chairman of Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited, who was recognized for his efforts in securing Nigeria’s oil assets with integrity and patriotism.
