Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has expressed profound grief over the passing of veteran journalist and publisher, Pa Joe Onyibe, describing his death as a significant loss to the journalism profession, the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), the Ika nation, and Delta State as a whole.
In a condolence message issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, Governor Oborevwori extended heartfelt sympathies to the Onyibe family, the Ika community, and the wider media fraternity.
He praised Pa Onyibe’s invaluable contributions to grassroots journalism and public enlightenment through his widely respected publication, Ika Voice Newspaper.
The Governor highlighted the late journalist’s unwavering commitment to truth, fairness, and community service—qualities that earned him admiration across the state and beyond.
“Pa Joe Onyibe, who passed on at the age of 90, was a trailblazer who used journalism to amplify the voices of his people and promote good governance and social justice. His death is indeed a monumental loss,” Governor Oborevwori stated.
He prayed for the peaceful repose of Pa Onyibe’s soul and encouraged his family, the Ika nation, and the NUJ Delta State Council to find comfort in the enduring legacy he left behind.
Governor Oborevwori also urged young journalists to emulate the late icon’s dedication to ethical journalism and selfless service to humanity.
