Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has extended warm congratulations to Warri Wolves Football Club following their triumphant outing at the 2025 Nigerian National League (NNL) Super 8, which secured their return to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).

In a statement issued in Asaba by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, Governor Oborevwori commended the club, popularly known as the Seasiders, for their resilience, discipline, and exceptional team spirit throughout the season, culminating in a hard-fought 3–2 victory over Wikki Tourists of Bauchi at the Stephen Keshi Stadium.

Describing the win as a “well-deserved triumph,” the Governor praised the players, coaching crew, and management for their outstanding performance and commitment, which he said reflects Delta State’s continued status as the home of champions.

“I heartily congratulate Warri Wolves Football Club on their glorious return to the Nigeria Premier Football League. This is a proud moment for Warri and indeed the entire Delta State,” Oborevwori stated.

He further commended the Delta State Sports Commission and the team’s technical handlers for their strategic planning, professionalism, and unwavering dedication, which were instrumental to the team’s success.

“This victory has restored pride to our state and renewed hope among our sports-loving citizens. The state government remains steadfast in its commitment to sports development and creating meaningful opportunities for our youth to thrive,” the Governor added.

Warri Wolves’ promotion marks a significant milestone in the club’s journey, signaling the end of a challenging period and the dawn of a promising new chapter. Established in 1998 as NPA FC and rebranded to Warri Wolves in 2003, the club gained national prominence in the late 2000s and early 2010s before slipping out of the top flight.

Governor Oborevwori expressed optimism that the club’s return to the elite league would revitalize the football culture in Delta State and inspire a new generation of athletes.

“Our administration remains committed to investing in sports infrastructure, nurturing talent, and supporting professional teams across the state,” he said. “Warri Wolves have demonstrated that with vision, leadership, and teamwork, success is inevitable.”

The Governor reaffirmed that the Delta State Government will continue to promote excellence in sports and provide the enabling environment for athletes and clubs to flourish, adding that Warri Wolves’ comeback represents a significant win for the state’s sporting legacy.
