Delta State Governor, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori has congratulated renowned politician and former Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Dr Stephen Oru, on his 76th birth anniversary.
In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, in Asaba, Governor Oborevwori noted that Oru is a consummate politician and accomplished leader, who had contributed immensely to the unity of the party and development of Delta.
The Governor lauded the renowned politician and elder statesman, who was one-time National Vice Chairman, South South of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), for his keen efforts at bridge-building, and described him as “a great politician”.
He recalled Oru’s contributions to the development of the State and Country through his past services as Chairman, National Board for Technical Education (NBTE); Deputy National Secretary of the PDP; and Chairman, Governing Council of the Delta State Polytechnic, Oghara.
Oborevwori said: “As a discerning chieftain of our party, the PDP, you have remained sagacious and a great mentor to many members and we appreciate you for your profound and dedicated loyalty to the party.
“On behalf of the Government and people of Delta, I heartily rejoice with a great leader and an amiable elder statesman, Dr Stephen Orishe Oru, as he celebrates his 76th birth anniversary today.
“As you celebrate this landmark anniversary, I am pleased to join your family, political associates and other well-wishers in thanking God for blessing you with strength and wisdom to serve the people of Delta and Nigeria.
“It is our prayer that God will continue to protect you and grant you good health to render more services to Him and humanity.”
